Chỉ là một loại trái cây bình dân nhưng mận vừa được các nhà khoa học Mỹ trao danh hiệu "siêu thực phẩm" sau khi thí nghiệm cho thấy chúng vượt qua trái việt quất về hàm lượng chất chống oxy hóa và phytonutrient, vốn có công dụng ngừa bệnh tật.
Báo Daily Mail dẫn kết quả nghiên cứu do Viện AgrilLife Research thực hiện cho thấy một quả mận chứa hàm lượng chất chống oxy hóa bằng với một nắm quả việt quất. Không những thế, hàm lượng phytonutrient trong mận có thể ngăn chặn sự phát triển của tế bào ung thư vú mà không gây ảnh hưởng tiêu cực đến các tế bào bình thường khác. Các nhà khoa học khuyên nên ăn từ 2 đến 3 quả mận mỗi ngày, và nếu có thể thì chọn mận có màu sắc khác nhau khi ăn.
