Có một phim của ông Huell nói về cộng đồng người Nhật ở Orange County mỗi năm đều có tụ tập lại để tổ chức làm bánh mochi theo lối cổ truyền của họ\. Bánh này nhìn giống bánh dầy của VN ta\. Sau đó họ cho giới thiệu nồi tự động quết bột từ gạo ra, khỏi mất công dùng cối giã, tương tự như đoạn youtube sau đây:
