 Nhiều người đồn là nhạc sĩ Bảo Thu thất tình ca sĩ Xuân Thu nên sáng tác bản này. Hình vẽ cô gái trên bìa nhạc giống ca sĩ XT thời đó. Lý do mà nhạc sĩ cho là XT không kết duyên với ông có thể tìm thấy trong lời ca.
